Mahal has a gamut of ethereal compositions by Khemchand Prakash. Though,
"aayegaa aanewaala" was the first to enthrall me, I later settled on
"mushkil hai bahut mushkil". That infatuation remains till date. Lata has
done complete justice to the meaningful lyrics. The variations in breaking
up the meter of each stanza displays Khemchand Prakash's creativity as a
composer.

K Datta has been documented as commenting [in a Marathi book by Shirish
Kanekar (by name "gaaye chalaa jaa", for the record)], when apparently
comparing Khemchand Prakash with Sajjad, that there was nothing "mushkil" in
the composition of "mushkil hai bahut mushkil..." by Khemchand. He said that
while the song was beautiful, it did not exhibit any genius on the part of
the composer. He further [reportedly] commented that it was never so with
Sajjad's songs, that he always created something which baffled him [K
Datta]. I am certainly not competent enough to comment on or refute K
Datta's opinion, but I find this song very enthralling, very well-made. The
very young voice of Lata - in her prime - leaves me baffled whenever I
listen to this song. Plus, saying that this song is not so good as any of
the Sajjad's songs is certainly a gross degradation of it.

I have not been able to decode the first line of the first stanza for years.
The part before (?) is definitely something else, since does not make much
sense [to me] in this form.
