Getting back to Lata/CR songs, there are a few of their soundtracks that are quite dear to me. Lata/CR songs fall in two categories - excellent and special. The special category has those songs where the 'synergy' between this awesome singer and the composer is palpable. Songs like 'mujhse mat pooch', 'tum kya jaano', 'ankhon mein sama jao' etc. belong in this category. Today's song also is quite special and the main reason for picking the 'khazana' soundtrack first. 

Almost all songs from this soundtrack were hits and are still very famous. Today's song, in particular, is a triumph of flawless singing. The lyrics are nothing special and the orchestration is nothing to write about either. CR uses the usual tabla, violin, sitar, santoor etc. in the interludes with no passages that really stand out. Despite this, the beautiful melody and some inspired singing by a young(1951) Lata catapults this song into one of the best by this team.
