If I have to single out one composer who gave Lata her best, it is difficult. But if I have to choose two composers,I will go for Anilda and Roshan! If Anilda gets credit as Lata's mentor, Roshan shud be given credit of using Lata's voice very well till the end of his career. In addition to the well
known Lata songs from Barsaat Ki Raat, Mamta, Taj Mahal, Aarti,Bahu Begum, Chitralekha etc I am crazy about two lesser known compostions from the 60's, both from Zindagi Aur Ham.

The songs in question are "jaa re jaa re merii chho.D chunariya" and "tuu hamako dekh, hamaari nazar se dekh".

One RMIMers reaction to "andhii qismat kise le chalegii" was, "Its a very Anilda'ish composition". Ofcourse this isn't aimed to belittle Roshan. Their styles are similarand when it comes to composing songs on Ragas, they are peerless.Another speciality is way some words are emphasised.I find this with Lata songs by others composers too but less frequently.One example is "haaye koii jaane naa" from this song.Even if I forget the song this phrase continues to haunt me and gives me goose bumps everytime I think of it.
