When checking to see if this song had already been posted, I discovered that
the ISB had NONE of the 'Godaan' songs! Needs to be remedied; here's the
first step forward. 'Godaan' has some wonderful music. Almost all the songs
(except perhaps 'jaane kaahe jiyaa moraa Dole' and the duet) have a strong
folk base. Ravi Shankar deploys six singers for seven songs (eight, if you
count the two versions of 'hiyaa jarat rahat din rain' as two songs): Lata
(2), Rafi (2), Asha (1), Mukesh (1), Geeta and Mahendra Kapoor (1 duet).

IMO, this Lata song vies for top honours with Asha's "janam liyo lalanaa" (a
song I intend posting as soon as I can make out what the chorus is
singing!). The lyrics are fairly standard for a 'bidaa_ii' song; the music
and the singing elevate the song to great heights. The first line of each
antaraa is repeated with barely a pause between the two iterations - it
seems to heighten the impact of the lines.
