Hi
All,
I would like to thank Neha Desai for continuing with this series while I was away. Besides having a stunning voice and perfect 'sur', the great lady's singing has always been characterized by one thing that almost everyone loves about her. This is the sweetness in that voice. This sweetness is apparent even in her spoken voice. Today, on her 69th. Birthday, I would like to present a song which is representative of this particular trait in her voice. Almost every song of hers could be a candidate, but this song from 'hyderabad ki nazneen' (1952) is a strong showcase of her sweetness. Beautifully composed by Vasant Desai, Lata envelopes this song with her trademark sweetness. There have been songs where she turns her sweetness up a notch with amazing effect. For example, the second antaras of 'o sajana, barkha bahar aayi' (from 'parkah') or 'rhim jhim jhim jhim' (from 'taangewali'). Today's song is like that all the way through. And, it is neither cloying nor diabetic(as someone recently mentionedJ) This is a great soundtrack
by Vasant Desai. There is another equally great Lata song, which I will
post next. There is one very good Talat song and a stunning Rajkumari (I
think) song. Just four songs (that I have heard), but all top-notch quality.
I don't know who the actors in the film are, so please fill that in.
